The YMCA

The Background: The YMCA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering communities and connecting young people to services that improve their health and well-being.

The Project: During the summer, the YMCA offers summer camp programs for children in the local community. The YMCA National Capital (decommissioned) at Seaton Elementary School required newsletters to go out to parents on weekly basis, but did not have the man-power to make it a priority.

The Service: I took the template they used in the past, and wrote a series to be used over the course of the summer program to inform parents and guardians of the activities and events taking place each week.
The GWU Pre-College Program

The Background: The GWU Pre-Program is a summer program offered to high school students at The George Washington University. The program works to model college-life and academic courses to get student’s acclimated to a future in post-secondary education.

The Project: At the end of the summer, the program director’s collect data from a survey sent out to the student participants. Upon receiving the data, they required a written overview of the data that was to be presented to the department head for strategic planning purposes.

The Service: I took the data from the survey and developed a written evaluation of the program sessions. This was then used to improve program's launch the following year.
